Still from our Children Care Home, Pondok Kasih Anugrah in Uetuwu which is located in the interior of Central Sulawesi.
During our stay there for 4 days and 3 nights, we also had a chance to conduct a Revival Meeting on the evening of 5th February 2014. About 250 people attended the meeting. The house was full, all the way to the overflow porch. We started the meeting with enthusiastic praise and worship.
Ps. Daniel delivered the message that Jesus already bore our sins and curses, so we can be saved. The sermon was taken from Isaiah 53:1-5. Toward the end of the service, during altar call, about 25 people gave their lives to Jesus (children and adults). Praise the Lord, the angels must be rejoicing in heaven because of this.
After the service, Ps. Daniel and Ps. Debby were serving food to the people who came. They were blessed not only spiritually, but also physically. The chefs (consisting of our teachers and Mrs. Stella, Operational Head of Pondok Kasih Anugrah) had carefully prepared the food since morning.
The next day, we were conducting baptism in the river. Our team had to walk through the woods, one hour to reach the river, and another hour on the way back. Some parts of the track were really difficult to pass by, slippery and stoney. Some had no pathway at all, so we had to clear up the plantations while walking to make a path. We were all so happy to finally reach the river. 13 people were baptized that day. Praise the Lord!
During our stay there, we tried to maximize it by fellowshipping with the children – giving them inspiration to keep learning for a better future, also with the teachers – giving them encouragement, so they will stay focused and committed to take care of and teach the children, making sure we all are reminded of the common vision that we have: to bring light into the dark places of Uetuwu and to impact the next generation of the Wana people. May God’s name be continually glorified through our ministry in reaching out to this indigenous tribe. Amen.
