To become a good leader, one’s attitudes and behavior have to be an example or a role model for his subordinates. It is not easy to be a role model for others because it all starts within us. Can our attitudes and actions give impact to everyone around us?
As an example of being a role model, a father teaches a lesson to his child. For example, when the father teaches about discipline, he has to give an example about him being disciplined. As the child seeing his father, he will follow his father.
Similarly for us as young Christians, just because we are young doesn’t mean we can’t give examples to the people around us. Like Timothy, he used to be afraid and didn’t have self-confidence. But God had a great plan for him as he was chosen to be the leader of the people in Ephesians when he was at his young age. At that time, he was underestimated because of his age and his position. But he was chosen as God’s servant because he had a sincere heart, he was willing to be shaped and he had integrity.
It is written in 1 Timothy 4:12 “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
So why don’t we start being a role model since we are young. God wants us as young people to be different than others. We should have quality lives, and not follow the lust of this world. Are we able to become a role model by our speech and attitude towards others? Of course we will be able to detect this by doing self-introspection.
Have our lives become a role model for others? (MS/ST)
