On the 9th of January, 2015, Anugrah Learning Center Solo and Sumpiuh celebrated Christmas together, then we went for a field trip in Tasikmadoe Sugar Factory located in Solo. 17 students, who are the recipients of Adikku Sayang scholarship program, joined this field trip, along with the teachers and center leaders.
We started off with a service, then continued by playing interesting games whereby the winners receive presents. After that we went touring around the museum of the factory to see the machinery that the sugar factory had, locomotive, also carts that were used in the past, in the operational of the factory. We also looked at some old buildings of Tasikmadoe Sugar Factory.
After that, Adikku Sayang students learned about the manufacturing of sugar, starting from the grinding of sugar cane, collecting the extract, to the processing of sugarcane extract into sugar. We learned it by watching a video in the studio of Tasikmadoe Sugar factory. We were supposed to witness the process directly, but the factory was having a general clean up after harvest time.
