Our team was on the road from 25 Oct to 30 Oct 2014 to open up 11 new Anugrah Learning Centers in Nias. 110 students were accepted into the Adikku Sayang scholarship program. Evenly distributed in the 11 ALCs, namely: Hilimbowo, Hilindrima, Golambanua II, Lauri, Biouti, Lolozasai, Dahana, Fodo, Orahili, Silimabanua, Lolofitu Moi. During the opening ceremony, these students, their parents (who are mostly working as farming labor and vegetable seller in the market), teachers, and center leaders were gathered together in Hilindrima Center. Local authorities also attended the ceremony and gave their welcoming speech. It was really a memorable moment when the parents hugged their children as act of reconciliation, and blessed them so these children can go reach higher heights in their lives. After the earthquake that shattered Nias in 2005, it was really hard for many of them to pick up their lives again. Many lost their homes, and along with it the children’s dreams to become successful in the future. Therefore, each one of them felt very blessed by the existence of Adikku Sayang scholarship program in their neighborhoods. They really appreciate that we care to share with them.
