Reading Verse: Deuteronomy 9:1-29

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

Proverbs 4:23

Everybody knows how disappointment feels, and we all have experienced it. For example, when we expect something to happen but it still hasn’t happened yet, this can cause disappointment. All things in this life can disappoint us. Only Jesus has never disappointed us because He is not a mortal who will easily disappoint us. We must learn that when something does not work as expected, we should not be disappointed because disappointments can cause us to be pessimistic in life.

When the feeling of disappointment hits us, it will indirectly cause us to be bitter, and it will destroy us. So never keep bitterness, and free our hearts from disappointments. Keep being thankful and trusting God. Even though life has not gone as expected, we need to remain strong because God is always good. His plans never fail and He will fulfill His promises on time. If what we want right now has not happened yet, don’t be disappointed. Believe that He will make all things beautiful in its time. Disappointments can also make us lose joy and peace. Never let disappointments take our peace away. Have a new hope so we may be joyful and courageous. Keep hoping in God because He never disappoints those who hope in Him.

In order not to be easily disappointed, we must guard our heart above all else (Proverbs 4:23), that is to guard it according to the truth of the Word. When our heart is filled with His promises all the time, we will become strong and not be easily disappointed. Moreover, we must stop putting our hope in people. Instead we need to keep our hope in the Lord as the source of everything. Let us focus on God alone, especially in facing difficult situations which can make us feel disappointed. With Him, we will never get disappointed.

Only God can heal the disappointed heart, and transform disappointments into joy. He will also give His peace upon us, so from this moment onward, let’s stop being disappointed. Let us live this life without disappointments. Surrender all to God. Amen.
