A Comparable Helper

Reading Verse: Genesis 2: 1 – 25

“Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.”

Genesis 2: 22 (NKJV)

                  After God created man, He realized that it was not good for man to live alone. Thus, God provided a comparable helper. In the Garden of Eden, God told Adam that from his ribs, a comparable helper to him was created. Comparable means that women are of equal position to men, for woman was created out of man’s ribs, and not other parts.  A helper means that a woman has to help out a man in the household, in areas like educating children, and preparing the needs of the household. When the functions of husbands and wives are functioning well, a household will function well and be happy too.

God’s purpose of creating men and women is so that they could multiply and fill the earth. From the beginning, God created marriage and life as a household, and God loves families. The word of God notes that God’s firs miracle was done in a wedding in Cana. This proves that God really cares about families. Thus, we need to be able to respect marriages for God has planned everything to be beautiful.

In living life as a household, there are some rules to be kept. For instance, wives must submit to their husbands as the heads of the family. This means that in all conditions, wives should not make decisions on their own, but to first discuss things with their husbands. Husbands should love their wives and submit to God. Thus, husbands should be good heads of the family and be a good role model to their children. Also, children must be able to respect their parents, as this is a commandment of God.

In living our lives in a household, we ought to be careful, for not everything goes well at all times. Problems will always arise, and husbands and wives must even continually adapt to each other. When problems arise, husbands and wives should not focus on the problem but instead focus on searching for the solution out of the problems.

In living lives as household, the most important thing is to possess love, especially God’s love. When there is love, everything will be better. God will eventually bless us and give us victory.

Let us do our part as a function in the household well, so it pleases God and He will bless our family. Amen.
