What a joy for Anugrah Ministries to be able to celebrate Passover with the inmates, sharing the Gospel of the Kingdom of God with them. Our presence gave them hope and acceptance. On this opportunity, Anugrah Team was back to serve the inmates of Cipinang Correction Center Class 1, working together with AbbaLove.
On Monday, 8 April 2019 at 7:30 am, we left the Headquarter of Anugrah Ministries and reached Cipinang Correction Center Class 1 at 8:30 am. As soon as we reached there, we registered ourselves so we could get clearance to go in. The service started at 9:00 am. Inside the church, about 128 inmates were already waiting for us, 16 of them were involved in the ministry, as ushers, multimedia attendant, and musicians.
When the service started, we all could feel the power of God working. We all enthusiastically sang some praise and worship songs. Some of the inmates were dancing and clapping their hands joyfully. One of them gave a testimony, because his friend would be set free on the next day, and that was their last service together.
Pastor Daniel Hendrata shared the Word of God about “True Love” taken from John 3:16, for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son to be the Redeemer of man’s sins. Pastor Daniel also asked the inmates to reflect on their lives while they are still inside the prison, because there’s hope for those who truly repent, so when they finally come out, their lives will never be the same again.
Before the sermon ended, Pastor Daniel challenged the inmates to receive God’s forgiveness. Then in turn, they would be able to forgive themselves and forgive others who have hurt them. About 40 inmates came forward to be prayed for during the Altar Call and received restoration.
After the service, we also distributed lunch boxes and goodie bags (consisting of towel and bathroom amenities, biscuits, condensed milk, coffee and tea) for all the congregation.
May God’s name be glorified through this ministry: reaching out to those who suffer, and are ignored or forgotten by the society. The Lord Jesus bless you!
