FEELING LONELY?

Long story short, a guy named Jacob lies to his father and steals his brother Esau’s blessing, and Esau is angry and intends to kill Jacob. So Jacob runs and escapes from his brother Esau. -Genesis 27
After Jacob fleeing for his life, this is what happens next:

“And he came to a certain place and stayed there overnight, because the sun was set. Taking one of the stones of the place, he put it under his head and lay down there to sleep.” -Genesis 28:11

Honestly, we can say Jacob is going through a really tough time in life. He’s no longer staying at home. He’s staying in an unknown, uncomfortable place. He’s feeling lonely. His parents are devastated. His own brother is out hunting for him and wanting to kill him. And not only that, he’s sleeping on the rocks and using a ROCK AS A PILLOW!

Has your life ever felt like it was on the rocks? Has your life ever felt like you’re in a cold, dark place, just going through a really hard time and feeling lonely?

Look what happens next! Lonely Jacob falls asleep and has a dream about a ladder that reaches from Heaven to earth(Genesis 28:12).

So Jacob wakes up from his sleep, and I absolutely love what he says next! Jacob says,

“Surely the LORD IS in this place, and I DID NOT KNOW IT” -Genesis 28:16

Jacob thought he was all alone. Jacob thought God had abandoned him when he felt the loneliest. But the truth was, God didn’t leave him at all. God was still with him.

Jacob wasn’t perfect, he lied and stole, and during that night, he didn’t feel the presence of God. Maybe he thought the presence of God had left him because of his sins. But during his darkest hour, he didn’t know, that the presence of God was STILL with him.

Maybe you don’t feel perfect either, and you feel like your prayers don’t reach high enough to Heaven, but guess what? Jesus said, “I will not leave you, nor forsake you”.

Jesus will be right there with you in your darkest hour, whether you know it or not. You are not alone. Jesus is with you right now!
