Reading Verse:  Genesis 35:1-29

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:2

When we see messy trash, we will certainly clean it up and throw it into the trash can, because trash is very bad especially for our health. As in this life, we have to clean the trash within us so that our lives become pleasing to God. Sometimes we don’t realize that we have accumulated unimportant things until they’ve become garbage.

First is when we keep bitterness. It is written in Proverbs 4:23 that we should guard our heart for everything we do flows from it. So we should never let hurtful words or attitudes of other people be kept in heart. Instead, fill our hearts with the love of God and forgiveness. Guarding feelings is not easy, thus ask God to fill our hearts with His love. If people hurt us, surrender everything to God. Keep learning to be joyful. In any circumstances that we are going through, never keep bitterness. We should learn to be humble and give forgiveness.

Besides, we should be able to get away from sins or bad habits in our lives. Bad habits are like garbage that piles up and produce bad smells before God. At the beginning it may look normal, but the act of sins is evil in God and is like ”garbage” that must be thrown away. Therefore, get away from every bad habit and sin so that our lives are pleasing to the Lord. Remember that God has redeemed us with His blood, so we have to live holly before Him. As people of God, we should have good habits, which are pleasing to Him.

Throw away all bad characters so that our lives are pleasing to God. We are salt and light of the world. When our lives are not bright, it will become useless. On the other hand, when we become the light of the world our lives can be useful to others. Therefore, from this day forward guard our lives to become pleasing to God. Throw away all evils and things that are not pleasing to the Lord.
