Reading Verse: Deuteronomy 20:1-20

Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God.

For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord.

Romans 12:19

Forgiveness has always been a part of this life since each of us has definitely experienced hurt or pain. When we get disappointed or hurt, there is a desire to get even with those who hurt us; but the Word of God says that it is God’s right to revenge. Our part is to forgive and not repay evil with evil. God also commands that we can forgive 70 x 7 times. It means that forgiveness should never be limited by anything. It is indeed not easy to forgive, but we have to learn to give forgiveness because if we don’t forgive, our Father in heaven will also not forgive us. As human beings, it is difficult for us to forgive, but if we are willing and sincere then God will give His strength, and the Holy Spirit will enable us to forgive others.

We must learn to forgive because God has forgiven us first, and He remembers our sins no more. So when people hurt us, we should be able to forgive them. When we forgive, God will hear and answer our prayers. Hurt feelings are obstacles to our prayers. Matthew 5:23-24 says that if you enter your place of worship and, about to make an offering, you suddenly remember a grudge a friend has against you, abandon your offering, leave immediately, go to this friend and make things right. Thus, let us come to God with a pure heart. When we forgive, it will open the door of blessings, and God’s blessings will come down upon us. Behind the forgiveness, there is a blessing from God for us. So, keep learning to forgive even though it is a hard thing to do.

Forgiveness can also give healings to our illness. A broken heart can produce hatred and wrath and as a result brings illness. This has to be resolved immediately. If we want to live healthy, we should remove ourselves from hurt, wrath, and hatred. Instead, let us live with full of love and patience so that we may remain joyful and filled with Jesus’ love. The power of forgiveness can bring joy because our heart will be covered with peace.

There is no difficulty in giving forgiveness if Jesus is with us. From this day onward, let us live in love

and give forgiveness all the time so that blessings from God can keep flowing into our lives, and we may live in victory.
