Reading Verse: Deuteronomy 13:1-18

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline

2 Timothy 1:7

There is a student who is afraid to face examinations. Every time an exam is around the corner, he experiences a stomach ache. As a result, he always can’t concentrate on the exams. He doesn’t know what is going on. He asks his parents, and they also have no idea about it. His parents just suggest him to keep calm and focus on the exam. However, each time he follows his parents’ advice, he always feels afraid. It feels like something is threatening him. One day, he encouraged himself to face the exam. It turned out that the fear has been making him to keep moving on. At first, his hands and forehead were sweating, but once he entered the exam room, he got encouraged. He was not nervous or afraid anymore. He was able to do the exam well. As a result, he got the perfect mark: ten. After the exam, he told his mom that he was not afraid anymore because when he was calm facing the exam, the fear was gone.

As in life, oftentimes we are filled with fear of things that we might not experience. We are worried about our problems, or afraid about our future. Everyone has experienced fear, but it is important not to dwell in it, even if something uncertain is about to happen. Keep in mind that God did not give us the spirit of fear, but the spirit of power, love and self discipline (2 Timothy 1:7). Therefore, stop being worried. Let us get back up from all fears, and keep moving forward facing the problems in front of us. In life, we will never walk alone. Jesus is always there, and He guarantees our lives. Fear only brings disadvantage because when we fear, we lose our joy and gain more worries.

In times of fear, we should learn to believe that God will give calmness and peace so that we will fear no more. From this moment on, don’t dwell in fear because God will always be with us and give us victory.

Don’t be afraid; face everything with God because with Him we will experience victory.
