Reading Verse: Genesis 3: 1 – 24

“And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.”

Genesis 3: 8 (NKJV)

When Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden, God loved them very much. Everything went very well, there was a great relationship between God and man. However, since the time Adam sinned, it spoiled everything. God’s relationship with man was destroyed, and there was a gap between God and man. At that time, men felt ashamed because they knew that they were naked. The peace and joy that they once felt disappeared. Adam and Eve regretted but it was too late because they chose to listen to the devil more than obeying God’s command. It is always the devil’s desire to make man fall into sin. The wages of sin is death. Man had to leave the beautiful Garden of Eden and live on Earth. God loved them very much indeed, but God could not compromise with sin, so there was consequence for what man did.

Likewise in our lives, many times we fall into different kinds of sins. Sinning may bring various kinds of pleasures for the moment, but it brings about many horrifying consequence. Romans 6: 23 says that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. It is only through Christ Jesus’ sacrifice that our sins are forgiven. The power of His blood cleanses us from every sin, and even breaks all the bondages of sin. The moment we receive God as our savior, our sins are forgiven and we are a new creation.

Jesus Christ has set us free, never shall we compromise with sin and never give the devil a chance. God really hates sins. He is a holy God and as Jesus’ followers, we should also live holy and obedient.

To live in holiness, we need to seek God’s strength for there is a limit to human strength and it is very easy for us to fall into sin. However, God’s strength is perfect. With God, we will be able to go through all kinds of temptations. Never put ourselves to the test.  Never put ourselves in a situation that makes us sin. Each of us definitely knows our weaknesses, and we should be wise enough to understand the situations around. Let us live in obedience to Jesus and far away from sin.

Living in repentance makes us acceptable before God. Amen.
