Being Responsible

Reading verse: Genesis 44:1-34

“His lord said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things,

I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of the Lord.”

Matthew 25: 23 (NKJV)

In the above reading verse, Judah promised his father that he would bring Benjamin home safely. However, they are now facing a problem. They might not be able to bring Benjamin home, for the stolen cup was found in Benjamin’s sack.

Judah, being responsible to the promise he has made to his father, took the responsibility and convinced Joseph to replace Benjamin and be caught. Here, we see a good character of Judah, a character of responsibility.  Judah proved himself to be a man of his words. Because of his promises, he was willing to receive the punishment that he did not deserve.

Here, we see an illustration of the salvation we receive. We should be the ones receiving punishments for our sins, but Jesus took our place and received our punishments by His death on the wooden cross. Now, we are no longer the punished, for the holy blood of Jesus has redeemed us. Jesus has set us free from all curses, and He has set us free to live in blessings.

Now that we fully realize Jesus’ sacrifices on the wooden cross in His salvation master plan, are we able to be accountable for our lives to Him? Are we living righteously according to His word, or are we living in vanity, pursuing vanity? Let us learn to be responsible people, so that God would entrust us with even greater things.

Those who can be accountable for their lives are mature. (DC/DS)
