On Friday, 25 March 2016, Ps. Daniel Hendrata and Ps. Debby Catharina, together with two of Anugrah Ministries’ creative team, started the journey to minister in Sumba. Before dawn, we already arrived in Soekarno Hatta Airport to fly to Denpasar. We transited for five hours in Denpasar, before continuing our flight to Sumba for one hour. We landed at Tambolaka Airport in Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara at 3 pm.
One of the purposes of our trip was to minister in a Good Friday Revival Meeting, conducted by GBI ROCK Bukit Pujian Church, Waikabubak, at 6 pm. The enthusiasm of the congregation and the people of Sumba was very high to attend the Revival Meeting. The room was filled with people, and some even had to sit outside. This was due to the popularity of GoodNews program over there. Majority of the people who attended the service were GoodNews viewers. That night, Ps. Daniel Hendrata was preaching about how much Jesus loves us, that He was willing to die on the cross to redeem us from all kinds of curse, so we can be saved through His death. Ps. Daniel Catharina also shared her testimony and sang a song entitled “CintaMu Padaku” taken from her new released album, Your Faithfulness. Out of 428 people who attended the service, about 40 of them came forward during altar call to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

The next day, Saturday, 26 March 2016, Ps. Daniel Hendrata and Ps. Debby Catharina ministered again at GBI ROCK Bukit Pujian in a family seminar: Guard Your Family. About 250 people attended the seminar that day, mostly husband and wife couples. The seminar started at 9 am, and ended at 12.30 pm. The response of the attendants was very positive. What made the seminar more special that day was the attendance of a husband and wife couple that was celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary on that day, Jeffrey and Fei Fei. Ps. Daniel Hendrata and Ps. Debby Catharina specifically prayed for them both, but also for other couples. After the seminar, some couples gave their remarks on the Guard Your Family seminar that they just attended.
Jeffry Subyanto & Oktaviana Santoso (Congregation of GBI ROCK Bukit Pujian)
“I hope this seminar can be conducted often in Sumba, because it is very educative. Personally, today I have been reminded about the importance of communication in a family, and godly parenting style that is in accordance with the Word of God.”
Pdt. Ponco & Istri (Pastor of GBI ROCK Waitambula)
“This seminar is really a blessing. We hope we can conduct this seminar in our church too, at Waitambula. We are so blessed, especially in part that talks about intimacy, and how to mentor children well.”
Retno (Worker of di Gereja Pekabaran Injil)
“I am so blessed by this seminar, especially because we as parents have big responsibility to bring our children in the knowledge of God. This seminar gives Kingdom values so Christian families can be equipped in living in the knowledge of Christ.”
After the Guard Your Family seminar, Ps. Daniel Hendrata and Ps. Debby Catharina gave autograph on the books and cds. They even spent the time to take pictures together with the seminar attendants. After lunch, Anugrah team continued to Kerewei Beach, located about an hour outside of Waikabubak city. We were planning to take the opening of the episode – GoodNews on the Move Sumba – over there. But, by the time we reached the place, heavy rain fell, so we had to pack up our shooting equipment again before we finished unpacking. We were forced by nature to go back to Waikabubak. This is an effort, behind the scene that not many people know of, in order to present maximal and quality pictures for the loyal viewers of GoodNews program. Fortunately the rain stopped after some time, so we could take the opening at the green Lapale Hill.

On the third day, Sunday, 27 March 2016, we were back to minister in Resurrection Sunday service at GBI ROCK Bukit Pujian. It started at 8 am. Ps. Debby Catharina was sharing her testimony and singing a song entitled “Your Faithfulness.” Then Ps. Daniel Hendrata delivered the Word of God entitled “He is Risen.” In this service, Ps. Daniel encouraged every of the congregation to bear fruit and give impact to their surrounding, so they can build Sumba to be much better according to His will. In this service, the Creative Ministry of ROCK Bukit Pujian also presented a short skit about God’s faithfulness in our lives. About 353 people attended the service. After the service, Ps. Daniel Hendrata and Ps. Debby Catharina took pictures with the congregation who were mostly viewers of GoodNews Program. They even prayed for the children of the Worship Leader who was ministering that day.
After that, we hurried to the General Hospital of Sumba to visit a newborn baby girl, third daughter of Ps. Hengky Ndolu and his wife, Vince (one of the pastoral team of GBI ROCK Bukit Pujian). It was a pleasant surprise because her birth happened to be exactly on the Resurrection Day of Jesus Christ. We prayed together for their family, and specifically for the tiny baby girl. After lunch, Anugrah team proceeded to Kita Beach, which is located half an hour outside Waitambula. Kita Beach is very clean; the sand soft and white. It was very beautiful scenery indeed. The beach can be considered quiet, as not many domestic and international tourists know about this destination yet, but it pictures great serenity. We are so blessed to be able to do shooting on this beach for the closing of “GoodNews on the Move Sumba” episode.
At around 4.30 pm, we went back, this time not to Wakaibubak, but to Waitambula. We got ready for the next schedule at GBI ROCK Waitambula, which would take place at 7 pm. Ps. Daniel Hendrata was back to deliver the Word of God and God’s message for the people of Sumba to rise up and shine, because the promise of God is yes and amen, and it will be fulfilled. Ps. Debby Catharina also shared her testimony and sang a song entitled “Tuhan Engkau Setia” that night. In Waitambula, Ps. Daniel Hendrata and Ps. Debby Catharina took the time to give autograph and take pictures with GoodNews viewers that they met over there. It is really joyful every time we get to meet directly with GoodNews viewers, whom we usually only greet on TV screen.

On Monday, 28 March 2016, Anugrah team made the journey back to Denpasar, and then continued to Jakarta. May every seed of the Word that has been planted there grow and not come back in vain. We pray that God will rise Sumba up in a much more wondrous way. We give back all glory to the Lord Jesus Christ for this opportunity that He has given us so we can serve the people of Sumba and be a blessing to them. God bless you!
