Praise the Lord for the opportunity given to Anugrah Ministries Team to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ, spreading the Good News to many people. This time, we served in Cipinang Correction Center for Drug Abuse in Tangerang. Our small team consisted of Pastor Slamet Sihombing, Mr. A.B. Hendrata, Yehezkiel, and Eduard. We worked together with the team from AbbaLove Church. The Lord guided our journey there, from the start till the end.
The team departed on Wednesday, 22nd of June, 2016 from the Headquarter of Anugrah Ministries to Lapas Cipinang around 11:00 am. Arriving at our destination at 12:15 pm. We entered into the sanctuary in Lapas Cipinang at around 1 pm. Approximately 160 people in the congregation had been waiting for us; all of them are inmates of Cipinang Correction Center. Some of them have been trained to serve in the service, taking part in the praise and worship team, music team, usher, and even in the multimedia and sound department.
Pastor Slamet Sihombing preached about “The Power of Prayer”, taken from Matthew 7:7-11, how prayer is very powerful to everyone who believes. We are reminded through the sermon that God’s hands are more than able to help anyone of us who believes and cries out to Him. During altar call, Pastor Slamet Sihombing challenged the inmates to be more earnest in searching for God and His truth, also praying for those who still have bitterness in their lives, so they can forgive, have a better life, and be a blessing to other inmates in the Correction Center. Around 40 people responded to the altar call. They went forward to be prayed for, and to receive restoration.
After the service, we distributed lunch for everybody. We also thanked the people who manage the church, and to the wardens. After that, we went home respectively, full of joy and not lacking anything. Thanks to the partners of Anugrah who have been supporting us, enabling us to consistently reach out to those who are in need. May God’s name be glorified more through our partnership. God bless!
