Baby Kaitlyn was born on 19th of November, 2010 with abnormalities in the intestine which in medical language is called Atresia Jejunum. She had undergone three surgeries at the age of 2 days, 40 days, and 3 months and 2 days. She was even in a coma for 5 days and treated in the NICU for 17 days. In the first 5 months of her life, she was treated at some children hospitals in Jakarta. She was having severe infections as her wounds caused by the surgeries just wouldn’t get better. This infection must be handled in a better facility to well maintain the function of her vital organs, and to stabilize her condition so another surgery can be performed to close the wounds on her stomach. That was the time that Anugrah Ministries came to know baby Kaitlyn.

KK Women & Children Hospital in Singapore is the best alternative to accelerate Baby Kaitlyn’s recovery process. The initial estimated cost was Rp. 250 millions (SGD 35,000), however until this news was written in mid June 2011, the cost has ballooned to Rp. 905 millions (SGD 132,000). Baby Kaitlyn’s condition is stable now; the infection has been suppressed drastically, though the wounds couldn’t be closed up yet, the medical teams had successfully connected her intestines. She weighs 4.35 kg and able to drink her own milk without any tube. She used to breathe with the help of ventilator, but now is able to breathe normally. The medical teams are waiting for her to gain enough weight in the next few months, so they will be able to perform another surgery to close up her wounds.

As Baby Kaitlyn’s legal custodian, Anugrah Ministries is very grateful for all the help and attention that you have been giving. God sent different kinds of people to help us raise the funds needed for her medical cost.
