Reading Verse: Genesis 38:1-30

But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

Hebrews 5:14

In life, each person goes through a growing up process as a baby grows up to become a child, a teenager, an adult, and an old man/woman. In the process, it is certainly accompanied by maturity in character, attitude, and behavior. As in Christianity life, God expects us to keep growing to be mature Christians so that we don’t stay as baby spiritually, because we are the future brides of Christ. Therefore, we have to continually grow to become mature.

One sign of spiritual maturity is to have focus on God, and unaffected by any situations. Although there are many problems, people who are mature spiritually still have faith to God only. They always rely on God and surrender fully to Him; in any circumstances they are always grateful. On the other hand, Christians who haven’t gone through the growing process will be easily shaken by circumstances. They believe in Jesus Christ, but they still go to fortune-tellers, believe in Feng Shui, horoscope, etc.

Mature Christians should be fruitful. Those who are spiritually mature will always be blessings for others. It is written in Matthew 5:16 that we are the salt and light of the world so we have to be able to have light like Christ as well as be a role model.

Another sign that Christians are mature spiritually is that they live by the lead of the Holy Spirit. It means that they don’t live obeying flesh, because they are able to distinguish good from evil. It is written in Hebrew 5:14 that, “…solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.”

In order to have spiritually maturity we have to be ready to go through process because in the end each process will bring goodness for us. It is not always easy but it can make our faith grow in Christ. Romans 8:28 says that “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him”. Therefore in any circumstances we have to strong and faithful so that we can go deeply experiencing God. Amen.

Let us grow in God, and don’t be immature Christians. (JS/ST)
