Reading Verse: Deuteronomy 15:1-23

Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Romans 5:5

Life is always colored with hope. As long as we live, we have always had hope, either for now or for the future. In general, people put hope on things they own, such as jobs, assets, or any belongings. When we put hope on our belongings, this is temporary and in the end we will be disappointed. When we put hope on people, this will also let us down because people change from time to time. No one is perfect, and the hope in Jesus is the only hope that will never disappoint us. He never changes and only He can guarantee all of our hopes. Jeremiah 17:7 says blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose hope is the Lord.

In times of waiting and hoping, we have indeed experienced boredom. But, don’t give up, don’t get disappointed when we have not received what we hope for. Even when there is nothing to put our hope on, keep hoping. When we have placed our hope on the right source, God, He will definitely help us. Jesus is able to do all things. He will make everything beautiful in its time. Therefore, when we have a problem, we should surrender all to God while keep hoping and waiting for His help. In the Word of God, it is written that while Abraham was waiting for the promised son, he didn’t give up hoping on the Lord even though there was nothing for him to hope. He continued placing hope on God until God’s promised was revealed. Abraham placed his hope on God, and God made everything beautiful in His time. We need to have faith that the hope in Him will come true.

In life, keep in mind that if we place our hope on the wrong things, it will make us disappointed. On the other hand, when we place our hope on Jesus, our life will be filled with joy because hope in Him is a certain thing and not an impossible thing.

From today on, make sure we place our hope on Jesus alone. He is the source of our victory. Amen.
