In a garden, a little child found a cocoon hanging on the leaves. He them recalled his father’s story that a butterfly is from a cocoon. Since he was eager to see a butterfly, he took a scissor and cut the cocoon. On his mind was a butterfly coming out from the cocoon with its beautiful and colorful wings. Unfortunately, he didn’t get what he expected since the butterfly hadn’t gone through the required process. It took a few more days for the butterfly to have the completed process to become a butterfly. Since the boy had cut the cocoon out, it would never become a butterfly.
Sometimes, without realizing it, we are also like the child who was not patient to see the butterfly and rely on our own strength. Yes, in this life oftentimes become impatient in waiting for God’s promise. When we don’t get the answer of His promises, we become anxious. We may ask why God’s promise seems to never been fulfilled. We want to see and experience the answer of our prayers as soon as possible. We desire to get everything instantly without realizing that all things require a process, and it’s not as easy as turning the palm of our hands.
Remember the story of Joseph? Let us learn the attitude of his heart when he responded the life process that God allowed him to go through. Joseph is the person who was always willing to learn to be patient while he was going through the process from God. He didn’t complain to God. He didn’t try to help God to have His promise fulfilled in his life. We all know how the plan of God worked out in his life. Although it took a long period of time, but eventually the promises of God were fulfilled one by one in Joseph’s life.
Friend, God’s plans for our lives are the plans that bring peace. An important thing to do while waiting for His promise is to be patient. Sometimes we try to help God with our own ways. We think and hope that this way will make it easier for the promise of God to be fulfilled. Friend, God doesn’t need our help because He understands more than us, and His timing is always perfect. Our parts are to be faithful, patient, and to surrender as God will do His part amazingly. (JL/ST)
