Padang is located in West Sumatera. Though Anugrah team has visited this city for many times now, it has always been a great place to be and we are as excited as we were on our first trip. On 27th of July 2012, Anugrah team visited Padang to bring the children of Adikku Sayang (a scholarship program for the less fortunate yet keen-to-learn children) for a field trip.

Upon arrival, we held a welcoming ceremony for the six new students who got accepted in the Adikku Sayang program in the new academic year 2012-2013. With this addition, Anugrah Learning Center in Padang now has the total of 11 students. After greeting the parents and interacting with the children, we handed out their new school supplies and goodie bags. The children were so happy to receive these gifts.

Our team stayed overnight in Padang. The next day, early in the morning, we departed to Malibo Anai, together with the children, teacher and center leader. We went to see the waterfall. The beautiful scenery really refreshed our souls, and energized especially the children as we continued with playing games. After that, they were briefed by Brian Hendrata, the leader of Adikku Sayang, about future strategy and expectations.

Then it was time for the children to give their testimonies. It’s really inspiring and touchy at the same time to hear how the Adikku Sayang program has actually colored their lives. Each one of them is really grateful that God moved the heart of sponsors like you to support their academic pursuit. Now they have faith that their dreams of becoming soldier, policeman, doctor, English teacher, etc will someday come true.

After a splash in the water, we continued our journey to Ngarai Sianok in Bukittinggi to have dinner. It was really a blessing to be able to spend time with them. As we realized that these children are the future generation of leaders. Thanks to God and our partners who endlessly support us in making an impact in the lives of these children.
