This time of the year, we headed to Karanganyar, about 30 minutes drive from the city of Solo of Central Java to PT. Mutu Gading Textile factory. As part of the extended Christmas Outing Program, the event was held on March 8, 2014 and it marked the first time for ALC (Anugrah Learning Center) Sumpiuh and Solo to be combined together, which involved about 18 children and 5 mentors.

The outing for this year was intended to let the children to observe the process inside the textile industry. As part of its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) program, PT. Mutu Gading Textile has joined together with Anugrah Ministries in Adikku Sayang scholarship program to give the students the opportunity to witness one of Indonesia’s biggest polyester filament yarn producer.

It took about 5 hours to get to Solo from Sumpiuh. This group bunch came early, took shower in the nearby gas station. Feeling excited, they were ready with their Adikku Sayang Uniform, which showed their strong sense of belonging to the program. ALC Solo came just a little bit later, however, they were in the right time, because as they arrived, Mr. Iwan Sanoesi, the HRD Manager greeted them wonderfully and it was amazing how they were in tune with each other by singing and dancing together. Afterwards, the General Manager of PT.Mutu Gading Textile, Mr. Diwans Saxena, greeted the children and the Anugrah Ministries team.

Soon after, he himself and the team led the children to tour around the factory and explained the process in the factory thoroughly. One of the most important lessons that Mr. Diwans Saxena pointed out was on how important it is for these children to strive for the best and not to give up despite the conditions they are living in. He emphasized to the children, that anything is possible when you believe, are devoted, and understand how to give back to your country.

Afterwards, these children also received Christmas presents prepared by their sponsors and lunch, at which they were also given the opportunities to ask questions directly to the General Manager and then, they were dismissed. Thank you for your contribution to make this event possible and together, we can change the nation!
